Assessment

The fourth competency is:

CLO4- Monitor and assess learners'' performance and progress effectively during formal and informal activities.

As evidence for achieving this competency I will use sub-outcome (1 &2) to demonstrate my growth in CLO4.

Evidence-1

Description figure 1

This first figure demonstrate the checklist I use it to check my students progress. The main columns are: attendance, homework and learning objectives and they are divided into four days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). Each day I use the checklist to check their homework and attendance. Also, I check their understanding of the lesson objectives.

Justification

This checklist helped me to know the students' level better. Also, it helped me to remember who was present and who was not if someone missed a dictation or paper that I distribute it for the class. The next day I will call out the absent students to give them the papers or to do dictation that they missed. Moreover, I gave the students three times chance for doing the homework. If they reach three times not doing the homework they will go to the principal or students service to talk to them. Checklist helps the teacher to organize her class and help her students to develop their Academic performance in the class. (Rebora, 2014). If the teacher notice that one child did not understand the learning objective she can sit with him to explain the lesson again and provide him with more activities to get the topic or lesson.

Figure 2: Examples of formative assessment (Level 7)

Figure 3: Summative assessment  (level 7)

Description figure 2

Figure two demonstrate two examples of formative assessment I did them in year 4 semester 1. In the first picture (up), students tend to write about what they understand about the "Ocean pollution." I gave them the freedom to write anything they want and any number of sentences. While in the second picture (down), students were given a specific information they need to write about. The formative was "writing about a favorite animal." I provided them with the information I want them to write and I specified the sentences (4-5).

Description figure 3

Figure three shows the summative assessment that I did in year 4 semester 1, after we finished unit 8 in English subject. The exam has four sections: reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary and grammar. Everything I taught them in unit 8 I put it in the exam.

Justification

Evaluating students is very crucial for the teacher and for the students too. Formative assessment should be used daily at the end of each lesson so that teachers will recognize who reach the learning objectives and who did not. (Kelting-Gibson, 2013). Teachers should know where her students are academically and give direct feedback where they need to be. Summative assessment is a formal way to evaluate students' performance. (Kelting-Gibson, 2013). It used to know if the students are where they need to be or not.
